Driving for an injured Bruno Junqueira, Newman-Haas Racing's Oriol Servia scores his first victory on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve road course in Montreal.
Even though it happened earlier this month, we here at Classic Rewind HQ are still celebrating the Chicago Cubs' World Series win.
With that in mind, we've selected one of Indy car's streak-busting wins from the recent past - Oriol Servia's victory in Montreal.
Servia, who was racing for Dale Coyne Racing, joined Newman/Haas Racing after the 2005 Indianapolis 500 when regular driver Bruno Junqueira was injured. A few months later, when the series reached Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, he was third in Champ Car World Series points behind teammate Sebastien Bourdais and former series champ Paul Tracy.
Servia dueled late with former F1 driver Timo Glock for the win as each sought his first Indy car win. Glock, trying to win on strategy, was penalized on the final lap, handing Servia his first win.
Next week, we're offiering an extra helping of Indy car racing to enjoy with after turkey dinner with friends and family. Up for vote are the second-place finishers from recent polls.
