This week's Classic Rewind, returns us to 1993 and the last time Mario Andretti won an Indy car race.
We’re still buzzing about INDYCAR’s return to Phoenix International Raceway at the Test in the West.
So for this week’s Classic Rewind, we’re showing the 1993 Valvoline 200 from PIR.
The race, held on April 4, was the second race of the season but didn’t feature Nigel Mansell, the 1992 F1 champ who had switched to Indy car racing during the offseason. Mansell’s teammate, Mario Andretti, claimed the win for Newman/Haas Racing.
It was the final win of his storied Indy car career, but nearly 25 later, Mario was still racing around PIR giving celebrity rides around the 1-mile oval.
