Motorsports legend A.J. Foyt will sign copies of his new biography, “A.J. Foyt: Survivor, Champion, Legend (Vol. I),” which is being launched this month by Octane Press, on Thursday, Oct. 10 at the Foyt Wine Vault in Speedway, Indiana.
Art Garner, who wrote the definitive biography, also will participate in the program, which takes place from 6-8 p.m. ET at the Wine Vault, located at 1182 N. Main St. in Speedway.
A brief Q&A session hosted by Foyt's son and AJ Foyt Racing President Larry Foyt will start the program. Attendees can purchase autographed books on site the night of the event. Autographs will be restricted solely to the Foyt biography due to the short amount of time allotted for signing.
Garner's critically acclaimed work is cited for its detailed depictions that provide important context for the era in which Foyt drove all types of cars, survived death-defying crashes and set records still intact 30 years after his retirement.
The product of five years of in-depth research and well over 100 interviews with Foyt's family, friends and foes, the 550-plus page book reveals the complexity of Foyt's dynamic personality fueled by his insatiable desire to win. Volume I chronicles his racing career from childhood through 1977, the year he became the first four-time winner of the Indy 500. Volume II is still being written.
In addition to being sold at the event, the book is also available at foytracing.com, octanepress.com and at the Foyt Family Wines Winery & Museum in Fredericksburg, Texas.
