Either Alex Palou or Will Power will win their third NTT INDYCAR SERIES championship Sunday, Sept. 15 at the season-ending Big Machine Music City Grand Prix Presented by Gainbridge at Nashville Superspeedway, the last race of the 2024 season.
Reigning champion Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing leads Team Penske’s Power by 33 points. Scott McLaughlin of Team Penske is still mathematically eligible at 50 points back but will be eliminated as soon as Palou starts the 206-lap race on the 1.33-mile concrete oval. Live coverage of the race starts at 3 p.m. ET Sunday, Sept. 15 on NBC, Peacock and the INDYCAR Radio Network.
So, realistically it comes down to Palou vs. Power in a heavyweight bout for all the belts – and the Astor Challenge Cup. Palou only needs to finish ninth or better to secure his second straight title and third in four years.
It’s time to compare the statistics of the two title protagonists, boxing style, in a Tale of the Tape:
