Rich Nye has covered news and sports for more than 30 years in his hometown of Indianapolis working for WTHR TV 13. Rich grew up listening to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network and dreamed of becoming a sportscaster. He spent 24 years as sports anchor/reporter for WTHR before transitioning to primarily a news reporter in July 2017. He has covered every Indy 500 since 1991, three Super Bowls, INDYCAR and NASCAR races across the country, and several NCAA Men’s and Women’s Final Fours. Rich was the first weekend morning TV sports anchor in Indianapolis in the late 1990s. After graduating from Butler University, Rich worked as a news and sports reporter for Network Indiana, a statewide radio network owned at the time by the Hulman/George family that owned the Speedway. Rich is a sideline reporter for the IHSAA Champions Network for Indiana high school state finals. His reporting has won three regional Emmy awards, as well as two Spectrum Awards from the Indiana Broadcasters Association.
