Jack William Miller and Nicky Hays are joining Abel Motorsports for their first test of Indy Lights machinery during the annual Chris Griffis Memorial Test on Friday, Oct. 21 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Miller (photo above), 19, from Westfield, Indiana, has raced the last two seasons in USF Pro 2000 (known as Indy Pro 2000) for his family-operated team. Miller, the son of INDYCAR SERIES veteran Jack Miller, finished ninth in the standings in 2022 on the strength of two podium finishes. He also won two poles in the Miller Vinatieri Motorsports car.

Nicky Hays“I’m super excited to have the opportunity to test an Indy Lights car at my favorite place in the world, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway,” Miller said. “I can’t thank Patterson Dental enough for this opportunity, and I’m looking forward to beginning my relationship with Abel Motorsports.”

Hays (photo right), 21, from Huntington Beach, California, will sample Indy Lights machinery after racing this season for Cape Motorsports in the USF2000 Championship. He finished seventh in the standings and recorded consecutive podium finishes at Portland International Raceway to close the season.

“I’m very excited to be joining Abel Motorsports for the Chris Griffis test and the opportunity to get my first taste of an Indy Lights car,” Hays said. “Building off of a strong finish to the USF2000 season, the goal is to be full time on the Indy Lights grid in 2023, and this is the first step in that process. I have to give a big thank you to everyone at Abel Motorsports as well as my partners (Touchstone Helicopters, Global Racing Group, Molecule Sports, Sparco USA) for helping to get this done.”
