Louis Foster

Newly crowned Indy Pro 2000 Champion Louis Foster will make the step up and race for the multi-title winning Andretti Autosport in Indy Lights in 2023.

Foster, 19, from Great Britain, won seven races and drove to five poles for Exclusive Autosport in his first season of racing in the United States. He won the Indy Pro 2000 title by 61 points.

“As a driver, you always want to be with the best teams, and that’s certainly the case here,” Foster said. “I really hope I can make Michael (Andretti) and my new team proud by getting up to speed as quickly as we were able to in Indy Pro 2000 this season.

“Of course, I know Indy Lights will be a massive step up again, but I’m ready for the challenge and confident with the resources this team has that I will be prepared and ready. I’m looking forward to testing with my new teammates, engineers, mechanics and everybody else at the team that make this organization great.”

Foster will join Hunter McElrea in the 2023 Lights lineup for Andretti. McElrea has won two races in his rookie Lights season with Andretti in 2022 and recently re-signed with the team.

“We are excited to have Louis join our team for 2023,” said Michael Andretti, CEO and chairman of Andretti Autosport. “He is just coming off his Indy Pro 2000 championship; we are looking forward carrying that momentum into his rookie Indy Lights season. I think he will adjust quickly, and I look forward to seeing him take the next step in his American racing career.”

Foster came to America in 2022 to continue his racing career after competing in the Euroformula Open Championship in 2021 and finishing third in the British Formula 3 Championship in 2020.
