Josef Newgarden and James Hinchcliffe

Fast Six highlights the best social posts from across the Verizon IndyCar Series. It’ll help you keep up with our extraordinary drivers, teams and alums, and their fast-paced lives.

Great Starburst debate

Halloween may be over but that didn’t stop Spencer Pigot from discussing the topic of candy. The Ed Carpenter Racing driver voiced his opinion on the flavors of Starburst candy, clarifying he was disappointed when he opened an all-strawberry package of the soft taffy.

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing driver Graham Rahal replied that the cherry Starburst is his favorite flavor. IMSA driver Marino Franchitti, brother of retired Indy car great Dario Franchitti, backed up with Pigot’s flavorful opinion.

Offseason, tailgate season

What does an INDYCAR driver do when not racing on a Sunday? Attend an NFL game, of course.

Simon Pagenaud, the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series champion, took to Twitter to share how he kicked off his first-ever Carolina Panthers tailgate in style. He mentioned that he brought his Chevy with him – his “dually,” that is, not his No. 22 Team Penske Chevrolet. Pagenaud also mentioned that his experience wasn’t complete without Bojangles’ fried chicken. Is he cooking up a sponsorship deal for 2019?

Return of a rivalry

Another NHL season is here, so we know we can count on one thing: the anticipated rivalry between INDYCAR drivers James Hinchcliffe and Josef Newgarden cheering on their favorite teams.

Last year, Hinchcliffe and Newgarden made a wager that the loser would bake the winner a cake, based on whoever’s team advanced farther into the playoffs. Newgarden’s Nashville Predators outperformed Hinchcliffe’s Toronto Maple Leafs, and it looks like Newgarden is ready to challenge Hinchcliffe once again.

So sweet!

AJ Foyt Racing driver Tony Kanaan shared a picture of the beautiful cake that Taylor’s Bakery, a local Indianapolis bakery, made for wife Lauren’s birthday (insert heart eyes emoji here). Only question we have for Tony and Lauren: Was the cake good?

Reminder: INDYCAR drivers are dancers, too

Remember when INDYCAR drivers wowed everyone on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars?”

In case you forgot, Helio Castroneves and James Hinchcliffe gave us throwbacks as a reminder. Castroneves, the Season 5 champion of the celebrity dance competition show, posted a candid photo from one of his dances with partner Julianne Hough. Hinchcliffe, Season 23 runner-up with Sharna Burgess, posted his throwback on Oct. 31 in honor of “Halloween Night” with the video of his “Suicide Squad”-themed waltz with temporary partner Jenna Johnson, a video that had more than 15 million YouTube views.

Once again, it showed these guys have the moves on the racetrack and in the ballroom.

Serious(Fun) star power

The stars came out on Tuesday for the London Gala benefiting the SeriousFun Children’s Network – the official charitable partner of INDYCAR. Among those attending and walking the “blue carpet” were INDYCAR driver Max Chilton and wife Chloe, as well as actor Orlando Bloom.
