Classic Rewind's look at the 1987 Indy car season continues this week with Round 5, the Budweiser/G.I. Joe's 200 from Portland International Raceway.

Bobby Rahal wins his first race of the 1987 season, passing Michael Andretti for the lead on lap 70 of 104. Rahal would build a 22-second lead late in the race, but slowed to conserve fuel and tires over the final 10 laps. Andretti closed to within six seconds, but managed only second place in an attrition-filled race that saw just eight cars finish.

Rahal, the 1986 Indy car champion, became the fifth different driver to win in as many races to start the 1987 CART season.
