We're honoring the 20th Indy car season for Helio Castroneves and Tony Kanaan with their first Indy car race, the 1998 Marlboro Grand Prix of Miami.

2017 will mark the 20th Indy car season for popular veteran racers Helio Castroneves and Tony Kanaan. So in honor of that, we've fired up the Wayback Machine to head to their first race, the 1998 Marlboro Grand Prix of Miami.

The first race on the newly reconfigured Homestead-Miami Speedway oval turned into a pitched battle between Michael Andretti and a strong pack of challengers, including reigning series champ Alex Zanardi, Gil de Ferran and Greg Moore, who had earned his first pole.

In the end, Michael Andretti finished first, but neither Castroneves or Kanaan factored into the 1998 CART season opener as they'd both crash out. Fortunately for us, the boys from Brazil have had stellar careers since.
