Just like the Verizon IndyCar Series has headed to the Valley of the Sun for this week's Prix View test at Phoenix Raceway, this week's Classic Rewind is headed to Phoenix for the 1994 Indy car race.

The second race of CART season featured the oval debut of reigning Formula 1 champion Nigel Mansell, but it was dominated by Team Penske drivers Emerson Fittipaldi, Al Unser Jr., and Paul Tracy, who combined to lead 172 of the 200 laps. Fittipaldi would lead a Penske 1-2, but Mansell would score his first podium by finishing third.

The race also included a memorable crash by rookie Jacques Villeneuve.
