Channing Tatum

Actor/producer and Alabama native Channing Tatum will be the grand marshal for the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama presented by America's First at Barber Motorsports Park, race promoter ZOOM Motorsports announced today.

The star of feature films including “Magic Mike,” “21 Jump Street” and “Hail, Caesar!” was born in Cullman, Alabama, some 60 miles north of the scenic permanent road course outside Birmingham.

“I’m honored to be serving as the grand marshal for the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama,” Tatum said. “I have always loved the excitement of a great race and it’s a privilege to be back in my home state for this event.”

The Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama race weekend is set for April 20-22 and will be the fourth race of the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series season. Included on the schedule are doubleheader race weekends for the top two levels of the Mazda Road to Indy development ladder – Indy Lights presented by Cooper Tires and the Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires – as well as IMSA’s Prototype Challenge and Porsche GT3 series.

“We are honored to have a world-class actor and Alabama native as our race grand marshal,” said George Dennis, president of ZOOM Motorsports. “Channing’s energy for racing is a perfect addition to a fun-filled weekend, and we’re excited for what is shaping up to be the best Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama yet.”

As part of his weekend, Tatum will ride in Honda’s Fastest Seat in Sports, the two-seat Indy car that will lead the start of the Verizon IndyCar Series race. Arie Luyendyk Jr., the former Indy car driver and current star of ABC’s “The Bachelor,” will be the driver.
