Daniel Cooper's to-do list includes beating cancer, growing hair and "live my dreams," and the soon-to-be fifth-grade student from Pennsylvania prominently incorporated the heartfelt and personal information on his Graham Rahal Foundation helmet design contest submission.

Through online voting, his design was selected to be worn by Rahal in the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma on Aug. 24. The race-worn helmet then will be auctioned on Rahal’s celebrity eBay page at http://givingworks.ebay.com/graham-rahal/. All proceeds from the winning bid will be directed to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, whose mission is to raise awareness of childhood cancer causes and raise funds for research into treatments and cures.

Daniel was diagnosed with stage III, intermediate risk neuroblastoma at 14 months of age and underwent chemotherapy at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

"To this day, Daniel has been a healthy, happy, adorable, loving little boy. He had no other symptoms," said his mother, Barbara. "We were fortunate to have been given a sign to catch this early. Most cases go undetected until they reach a later stage."

Daniel, who wrote that his reason for the bright yellow helmet design submission was that it "gives me hope for a bright future," will receive a full-size helmet replica featuring his design and signed by Rahal.

"It is a real honor to announce Daniel Cooper as the winner of our third annual Graham Rahal Foundation helmet design contest,” Rahal said. “Daniel submitted a truly inspirational design that highlights the impact Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation has made and continues to make for him. He is now working on living his dreams and I will be extremely proud to wear Daniel’s design when we race in the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma."
